Carnival Arts: A programme of design and dance during the Summer term and school holidays culminating in one of the biggest and most famous carnivals in the world- the Notting Hill Carnival!

Carnival Arts kicks off during the Summer term and runs on a Wednesday afternoon between 4 and 6 pm. The programme then runs Monday to Friday during the holidays up until the Notting Hill Carnival, which is always on August Bank Holiday weekend.

In the Summer term we concentrate on developing our theme for the coming carnival and designing the bigger and smaller costumes for the band members to wear on the road. During the Summer holidays, we work with a carnival artist to construct the costumes we have designed.  We also encompass dance, drumming and steel pan workshops for the band members to have a well rounded view of all aspects of carnival arts. The band has gone from strength to strength in recent years, receiving second place on the road last year!

We are always happy to accept new members to the band. Our motto with everything to do with carnival is ‘The Bigger The Better!’ If you are interested in signing up, or know someone who you think would enjoy the carnival experience, please contact Spencer Buksh at the Community Project.
